καλησπερα σας

εχω ρυθμισει το αρχειο httpd.conf του apache ωστε να προστατευει ενα directory,απλα επειδη σε ολα τα παραδειγματα που εχω δει στο internet χρησιμοποιουνε ενα ερχειο .htaccess μεσα στο directory που θελουν να προστατευσουν δε μπορω να καταλαβω γιατι το κανουν ετσι αφου μπορεις το κωδικα που βαζεις μεσα στο .htaccess να τον γραψεις κατευθειαν μεσα στο httpd.conf.υπαρχει καποια διαφορα μεταξυ αυτων των δυο τροπων?τι ειναι το ποιο σωστο?

Αν σετάρεις το .htaccess μέσω του οποίου θα ήθελες να σετάρεις τον Apache.... δεν θα έλεγα οτι είναι μια καλή προσέγγιση....
To .htaccess χρησιμοποιείται σε Web Hosting περιβάλλοντα που θέλουνε να σετάρουνε access rights χρηστών που δεν έχουν root access...

When .htaccess files should not be used

To control Apache, using the main server configuration file httpd.conf^[3] is preferred for security and performance reasons.^[4]

1. Performance loss - for each HTTP request there are additional file-system accesses for every parent directory when using .htaccess
2. Security - allowing individual users to modify the configuration of a server can cause security concerns if not set up properly.
