Η Adobe πλέον θα μπορεί να ελέγχει την παραγωγή των έντυπων και ηλεκτρονικών εκδόσεων (αν υποθέσουμε ότι με το InDesign θα συνεχίσει να τρώει τα ποσοστά της Quark). Και μετά μιλάμε για άλλα μονοπώλια...

H Adobe ανακοίνωσε ότι έχει έρθει σε συμφωνία με την Macromedia για την εξαγορά της δεύτερης αντί του ποσού των $3,4 δις.

Αν σκεφτεί κανεις η Macromedia έχει μια πλήρη σουίτα προιόντων για Web, από τα δικά της Flash, Dreamweaver, Director, και τα αποκληθέντα JRun, HomeSite καθώς και ColdFusion, η Adobe δεν αγοράζει μια μικρή εταιρεία. Στα χέρια της Abode δεν υπάρχει πλέον μόνο το PDF format αλλά και το SWF format. Τα έγγραφα αυτών των formats κατακλίζουν το Internet σαν standard, ανεξαρτήτου πλατφόρμας και λειτουργικού συστήματος, για πολλά χρόνια.

Adobe to buy Macromedia for $3.4 billion

Desktop publishing specialist Adobe Systems announced Monday that it has agreed to buy multimedia software maker Macromedia in a stock deal valued at $3.4 billion. The companies said that the deal would help create a more powerful source of tools for building and distributing multimedia content across a range of operating systems and devices. They repeatedly stressed their belief that the merger would allow them to expand more rapidly into the market for audio and video applications for use in handhelds and other gadgets. In a conference call, Bruce Chizen, Adobe's chief executive officer, said that the buyout creates a more powerful company capable of delivering innovative technology into a number of emerging markets.
