Αφού ο Jobs είπε ότι συντηρούσαν τον κώδικα για Intel εδώ και 5 χρόνια, προφανώς ο Dvorak είχε τις πληροφορίες του.

Πάντως σκέψου ότι τώρα που η Apple πάει Intel, η Microsoft πάει Motorola (τουλάχιστον με το XBox)! Τι άλλο θα δούμε...

Thanks to Gelob* for pointing out the story* Word has come from Mac Daily News concerning a possible leak of Apple’s upcoming OS X 10.4.1 which notably supports Intel based processing units. However, some are beginning to question if the reports are true – considering Apple announced less than a week ago they are switching from IBM based units to Intel chipsets. “I estimate that we’re down to a matter of hours before Mac OS X 10.4.1 for Intel hardware is available for download on Internet software piracy sites and peer-to-peer piracy networks,” reported Mac Daily News on Saturday. They soon updated their article after press time, reporting “A reader who for obvious reasons wishes to remain anonymous just demonstrated to me that the software is, in fact, already available on Internet software piracy sites.” Neowin would like to ask you what your thoughts are. Could a newer version of OS X be ready so soon after an official transition announcement? Or do you think this is a marketing scheme on Apple’s behalf to draw even more attention to the recent news? When Apple made a statement saying that OS X will only be sold/will run on Intel machines that Apple makes itself, the hopes of installing OS X on your home PC flew away. However, it turns out that one individual decided to take on Apple's statement. This individual managed to install OS X on his Dell laptop (please see video below). ΥΓ. Για όποιον ενδιαφέρεται, Mandrake 10.1 & Suse 9.2 τρέχουν. Το Fedora Core στήνεται αλλά μετά δεν ξεκινάει (μπουτάρει, στα ελληνικά)

Steve’s just finished up delivering his keynote, but it looks like all those years PC nerds spent debating Apple fanboys about x86 vs. PowerPC performance weren’t exactly for nought—at today’s Apple WWDC in SF, Jobs declared the PowerPC has been “living a secret double life.” We know it’s more than just getting 15 “integer perf units” per watt to Intel’s 70—like, say, having consistant troubles getting to that magical 3.0GHz marker, or those pesky heat issues. Steve’s solution? Go Intel. And just as everyone had been expecting, a secret Intel build of OS X had been kept in house for the past half decade, just waiting for a reason to be loosed upon the world. They expect the full transition to Intel-based machines to be complete by 2007, as speculated, but we’re still in the dark about how Mac is going to make OS X beige-box PC-proof—or if they even are.
