Installing SQL 2005 June CTP on a computer with VS 2005 Beta 2

I noticed that there is now a June 2005 CTP for SQL 2005 now available (though apparently only to beta program members and not widely available on the web right now). This CTP has a slightly newer version of the .NET Framework 2.0 beta 2 (2.0.50215.312 as opposed to 2.0.50215.45) and will not install correctly if you try to install it on a computer that has VS 2005 beta 2 installed (even if you didn't choose to install SQL Express as a part of VS setup). This 2.0.50215.312 version of the .NET Framework 2.0 beta 2 will work correctly with VS 2005, so you can use the following steps to prepare a computer to install the SQL 2005 June 2005 CTP:

Use Add/Remove Programs to remove any earlier version of SQL Server 2005 components (prior to build 9.00.1116). Remove the following components (if any or all exist) in the same order as listed here:
Microsoft SQL Server "Yukon" Beta 1
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 (or CTP)
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Beta 2 (or CTP)
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Tools Beta 2 (or CTP)
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Tools Express Edition Beta 2 (or CTP)
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Data Transformation Services Beta 2 (or CTP)
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services Beta 2 (or CTP)
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Notification Services Beta 2 (or CTP)
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Beta 2 (or CTP)
Microsoft SQL Server Setup Support Files
Microsoft SQL Native Client
Use Add/Remove Programs to remove .NET Framework 2.0 beta 2

Alternatively you can use the steps I posted here to extract and run the SQL build uninstall wizard, which should automate all of the above uninstalls.

Note: I haven't tried it yet, but I believe that you will not be able to integrate the SQL 2005 June 2005 CTP into VS 2005 beta 2. But there is a compatible CTP of VS 2005 in the works and it should be available in the near future.

3.5.1 Installing SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005

When installing this CTP release of SQL Server 2005 with Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2, you must always install SQL Server 2005 before installing Visual Studio 2005.

You must also remove all previous builds of SQL Server 2005, Visual Studio 2005, and the .NET Framework 2.0 before installing this CTP release. Because both products depend on the same version of the .NET Framework, they must be uninstalled in the following order:

SQL Server 2005
Visual Studio 2005
.NET Framework 2.0

SQL Server June 2005 Community Technology Preview (CTP) is the first version of SQL Server 2005 made available for general testing. Previous versions have been available only to customers enrolled in the SQL Server 2005 beta program or those with an MSDN subscription. Please note that you cannot deploy SQL Server June 2005 Community Technology Preview in production environments.
