To use Unicode text with MySQL Connector for .NET , you need to set the "Character Set" property to "utf8" at the connection's advanced settings dialog (e.g. at the Database Explorer pane). Microsoft Popfly was a nice web mashup engine with an easy Silverlight game authoring tool. However Microsoft finally decided to pull the plug off Popfly during some of their restructuring. Recently I exported a MySQL database (from the opensource osCommerce e-shop PHP -based platform) using phpMyAdmin (the one included in Plesk Control Panel ) and then imported it to another instance of osCommerce, using again phpMyAdmin, this time running in an OpenSolaris WebStack Virtual Machine (hosted in VirtualBox ). After updating the MySQL Connector for .NET at your system you may find that your .NET applications or libraries (aka assemblies) that use it (including the data designers at your Visual Studio projects that use the MySQL Connector for .NET ) no longer work cause they keep looking for a previous version of the driver. By Martin Praxmarer Tired of making all DetailView Layout and ListView Layout in the ModelEditor instead at Runtime where you immediatly see the results? The Solution is eXpands ModelDiffs Module. Setup: Create a new User and give it a name like “ModelAdmin”. Next Create a new Role “ModelAdmin Role” – and create a new Model Combine Permission. Set the Modifier to “Allow”, and set the Difference Name to the Name of your Application Model: Now assign the created User to this new Role. Last step is to open the User Difference Model, and set the Model to “Non Persistent” since we dont want to save User changes here. Thats it. At the Robotics Group 's lab at the university, we have a multipurpose machine from HP , model "OfficeJet 6100 all-in-one". Maybe not with the build in modules and not exactly before lunch but the difference between traditional programming and Xafing is really great. I am going to continue my posts on WorldCreator module and going to inform you about the progress up to here. I just installed Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 on my machine. I only had little time to play with it so far but I'm so excited! Finally dialog boxes are fast! I never understood so far why 'Create New Project' and 'Add New Item' were so slow in previous versions! Any why 'Add Reference' was opening .NET Assembly tab by default and not Project tab. Guess what! Huge improvement in VS 2010! Dialogs open extremely fast and Add Reference shows Project tab by default now. And even if you press COM or .NET tabs they are rendered in a few milliseconds! Startup time of Visual Studio itself seems also improved! Permalink | Leave a comment »...

Today i ll reveal a big and mysterious secret. It seems that DevExpress has a new module that very few people know about it. I happen to notice it when i try to run feature center demo, cause I have recompile my sources I got a compilation error (have not recompile the secret hidden module ImageSourceBrowser.Win that's why) For you that do not have recompile your sources there is a new module waiting for you. CNET TechTracker ( www.download.com ) can help you get notifications when a new version of software installed on your machine is released! It really works! You can configure to automatically run on windows tray and check for new software daily, weekly, monthly or manually. I suppose that this is possible only for software being distributed over download.com , but this is fairly big software database! The results are reported to you with a tray notification or on the web. I've seen other applications like this one in the past, but none from such an important vendor like CNET. Nasty bug I just came across. When you do at localized Greek version of Window Vista: Rmdir /s somefolder it asks (in Greek text) for confirmation of folder deletion but suffixes the prompt with a (Y/N) instead of (Ν/Ο) [nai = yes for greek and oxi = no) and however accepts only the Ν/Ο greek chars there. Dynamic Types is one of the most wanted feature in any framework. Luckily me I met Emilio DabDoub of Signia software and one of the Coordinators of XERP project and he hire me to port an old code that he had that could provide that feature and much more into xaf .
