Ο τύπος δεδομένων string , είναι immutable στο .NET Framework. Πρακτικά αυτό σημαίνει, ότι όταν δημιουργήσουμε ένα string, τότε το περιεχόμενό του δεν μπορεί να αλλάξει. Δηλαδή, στο παρακάτω τμήμα κώδικα string s = "Hello" ; s += " World" ; το s αρχικά δείχνει σε μία θέση μνήμης όπου είναι αποθηκευμένο το "Hello". Όλοι μας, μικροί και μεγάλοι σίγουρα θα έχουμε παίξει με LEGO. Με αυτά τα πολύχρωμα τουβλάκια που τα έστηνες όπως ήθελες, τους έβαζες και μικρά ανθρωπάκια και περνούσες πολύ ευχάριστα την ώρα σου. People make fun of me, because of the mobile phone I carry around. I admit it: it's a little bigger than other phones, it's a little heavier than other phones, but it has a lot of features that other phones don't. When it was first announced, I thought it was the perfect phone. Admittedly, I'm exaggerating a little (I am just trying to provoke Panos). But I am tired of hearing people, especially in enterprise scenarios, say "I want to use a web client for this, and a web client for that" without really thinking about it, or knowing if it's the right way to go. Let me first make a small, obvious, but often neglected distinction: if you don't have control over who's going to be using your application (a typical Internet scenario), then you probably do need a web client. .NET Dictionary object can hold a collection of keys and values. It allows you to iterate through these values using enumeration and you can also retrieve a value by using it's associated key. But what if you want to create a collection of items and access them both using their associated key or numeric index in the collection? I created a VB.NET class that I named IndexedDictionary that does exactly that. The class implements the generic IDictionary interface. "Segmentation Fault" takes me back a few years - 14 to be exact. The location is the computer lab at the University of Birmingham, UK. I am trying to write a window manager for X-Windows (X11 to be exact), using vi and compiling it from the console. No IDE, no debugger, nothing. To be honest, I remember there was some kind of debugger available, but it was extremely complicated to setup and use, so I preferred the good old cout and printf statements. Did I hear you say "It was about time!"? Well, I guess you're right. I've been putting this off for too long – for no obvious reason. I guess my main concern was that I wouldn't be able to live up to the challenge of updating this blog frequently. I believe that must be the number one reason people put off starting their blogging activity. Number two is probably content. Perhaps it would be a good idea to change the text of every 'Save' button in all software of the world to 'Unsafe Store'. Maybe this way people can finally understand that backup really saves their data and 'Save' button just stores them temporarily. Here is how Microsoft Excel™ would look! Σήμερα χρειάστηκε σε μια ASP .NET εφαρμογή που φτιάχνω, να χρησιμοποιήσω κάποιες javascript functions. Μιας και ήθελα να παίζει σε μία συγκεκριμένη content page και όχι σε όλες, δεν μπορούσα να το γράψω με τον κλασσικό τρόπο (<script language="Javascript"> //mpla mpla </script>) στον HTML κώδικα της Master σελίδας. Assume that you want to write the contents of a dataset to xml, in order to send that data via e-mail or any other means. Have you noticed how verbose xml files are? However, if you try to compress one, you will notice that size of the compressed file is only a small fragment of the original! Just for testing, I compressed an 200MB XML file into a zip file, to see that the resulting file was 9MB only! Do the following mean anything to you? Is your IIS full of test web projects that you once created and you keep them... just in case? Do you have old projects that you want to look once in a while but you don't have the time to create virtual directories for them? Do you have dozens of databases on your SQL Server for all that projects? Do you find the procedure of copying files, IIS settings and SQL Server database to create a copy of a web site tedious?
