» 26ο dotNETZone.gr Community Event – Presentation Layer Patterns

Την Τετάρτη 18 Φεβρουαρίου στις 19:20, διοργάνουμε το 26ο dotNETZone.gr Community Event, στις εγκαταστάσεις της Microsoft Hellas (Κηφισίας 221, Μαρούσι  ). Η παρουσίαση θα γίνει από τον Μάνο Κελαϊδίτη (KelMan) και τον γράφοντα, Γιώργο Καπνιά (gcapnias) με θέμα «Presentation Layer Patterns». Πώς μπορούμε να ξεφορτωθούμε business κώδικα από τα events της φόρμας; Πολλές εφαρμογές φιλοξενούν την business λογική στα code behind αρχεία. Πολλές άλλες συνδέουν στενά την λειτουργικότητα του business κώδικα με μια ή περισσότερες φόρμες, ακόμη κι όταν αυτός ο κώδικας βρίσκεται σε ξεχωριστές κλάσεις. » 25ο dotNETZone.gr Community Event - Code Generation με τη χρήση T4 και του Visual Studio

Έχοντας αποκτήσει ρυθμό στο 2008, θα πραγματοποιήσουμε το 25ο dotNETZone Community Event την Τετάρτη, 28 Ιανουαρίου στις 7.15μμ, στις εγκαταστάσεις της Microsoft Hellas (Κηφισίας 221, Μαρούσι ). Την παρουσίαση θα κάνει ο γράφων, Γιώργος Καπνιάς (gcapnias) με θέμα «Code Generation με τη χρήση T4 και του Visual Studio». Γιατί να γράφετε τον ίδιο και τον ίδιο κώδικα όταν μπορείτε να τον παραγάγετε αυτόματα; Μάθετε για το Text Template Transformation Toolkit (T4) - ένα από τα καλύτερα-κρυφά νέα χαρακτηριστικά του Visual Studio 2008. Το T4 σας επιτρέπει να χρησιμοποιήσετε απλή ASP.NET σύνταξη στα πρότυπα για να παραγάγει πηγαίο κώδικα, αρχεία διαμόρφωσης, stored procedures και ακόμη περισσότερα. Σε αυτό το event θα έχουμε μια περίληψη του code generation, περιγραφή της δημιουργίας T4 προτύπων και επίδειξη πώς να δημιουργήσετε ένα T4 πρότυπο για την παραγωγή των CRUD stored procedures… Παράλληλα, την Τετάρτη θα κόψουμε και την πρωτοχρονιάτικη πίτα μας. | Happy new 2009! |
A new year full of surprises… It is now time for us to start a new year...
Let me start by saying thank you on behalf of INETA Europe board to all INETA volunteers for making this the most fun, creative and effective year since our beginning. Thank you so much for your time and your personal engagement!
It is my pleasure to express my deepest appreciation for all of the things you have done for INETA and developer communities in Europe this year!
This year, we are starting to win on our big bets in strategy and community development. Our membership base is growing rapidly. I have complete confidence in our team and I believe strongly that we will take INETA Europe to the next level.
Together!
We had a very successful TechEd with the biggest INETA networking party ever. We are working hard on the most exciting community activities in history of INETA Europe. Our Speakers Bureau is now representing the best of international speakers in Europe. There are so many great events and activities planned for 2009 and I am really confident that we will have a lot of fun and even more success together in this just started 2009.

A big thank you to all of you who have visited us at the TechEd Developers 2008 in Barcelona.
INETA Europe was again an exhibitor at this conference and we had a good time to know you face to face, User Group leaders and members or just people interested in creating a User Group not only in Europe but in Russia or the States. We sincerely encourage you to join in a User Group to learn more, to share your knowledge and to share with your peers your best ideas and dreams. All we together are able to transform our world in a better place through .NET technology.
Those who stopped by our booth participated in our on line survey and talked with us about different ways to facilitate INETA Europe to be closer to our User Groups and to listen to them.
All of you gave us great ideas about new services to the community to offer a better assistance in consolidate and growing your groups, and feedback about the services we are offering now.
Almost 300 people participated in some of our activities at TechEd Developers this year (asking for information, survey, greetings, party with Jose, etc…) and we want only say thank you, you are the real core of the .NET community.

| User Group Leadership Summit |
Between the past Tech-Ed IT and Tech-Ed Developers there has been celebrated for the first time at Europe the User Group Leadership Summit, an event that is meant to be be a high level sessions directed to the overall strategy of User Group management, including both Developers and IT, and of Microsoft towards UG Community.
To say that from INETA Europe we have asked long for this event and we are specially grateful to Graham Watson (http://blogs.technet.com/grahamtwatson/) and Tania Fernandez de Castro, who have made possible this two days event. Oh, and yes, INETA also helped a bit in the organization of this event for first time at Europe ;).
The UG Leadership Summit was celebrated in two days, the first was dedicated to Microsoft to provide it's corporate point of view. There we had an interesting session about the changes that are taking place within Microsoft and Culminis, the Microsoft IT-Pros international UG Association (For who doesn't know, Culminis changed its operational model and now is a volunteer driven organization, like INETA). We also got a deep dive into UGSS (User Group Support Services).
Also we had a very interesting talk about Corporate Support for Unified Communications to UG meetings, very interesting one, being the main topics the UC materials being used, how can Microsoft help us better.. To say that there we mentioned the "INETA Live" program, already applied at USA that we are looking into applying in Europe. I only can say "we are on it"...
Also, Doug Turnure showed us Ramp Up, the new free online community based program. I just can say it looks great and we expect it to benefit a lot of our developer community.
Later on we had a open-space session in which everybody participated and added value with his opinion and/or experiences.
Last day it was centered on User Group's Best Practices, old and new services for UG, Coordination of Speakers.
This has provided us very interesting feedback that will help us lead the European Community better and also has helped us into getting more closer to Microsoft.
In conclusion, a fabulous event worth repeating and, if you are invited - it is an invitation event only - do not hesitate to assist.

Overview
Into a new business season - MSCommunity under the hat of INETA and Microsoft had organized another great Code Camp event in Zagreb, Croatia!
With some 30 people in attendance, our focus this time was on a smaller group but with better interaction throughout the day. During the 6 sessions in a lengthy 9 hour day our speakers (including 5 of them MVPs) covered topics ranging from Mobility to Coding styles, SQL, BizTalk and other.
Speakers such as Tomislav Bronzin, Andrej Radinger, Dean Vitner, Josip Šaban, Marko Čulo and Bernard Katić made this day really special and provided us with top quality content in a form of great sessions and some more than interesting discussions!
When looking at the feedback we got from the audience this year, we again have reasons to be very satisfied. As they mentioned the event was again organized on a high level with technical sessions really providing deep insight thanks to our great speakers.
Organizing the event this year was made easier by having great support from our contributors - companies and associations such as Microsoft, INETA, RedGate, Telerik, DevExpress, Ekobit, Perpetuum Software and Microsoft Innovation Center Varaždin which had donated both the funds to organize the event and rich prizes in the form of swag and software licenses – note that ending the event we’ve organized a rich raffle game in which we gave away some 11 product licenses to the lucky attendees.
We are looking forward to organize another great CodeCamp very soon!

| INETA Europe reloaded... preparing for 2009! |
New framework, new countries, new User Groups… new INETA Europe image and communication plan! We would like to share with our User Groups our thoughts and concerns about the importance of supporting and giving added value to our communities.
So at this time we are preparing a marketing and communication plan to spread all the power of the people working with .NET technology. We want your participation in that and we would like be by your side to support in many ways your User Group. Some improvements: better communication and participation policy, new Newsletter image (more social), more services to our communities, and much more.
Very soon, we will be launching this news at our Website, and you will have the opportunity to know more in detail the new image of INETA Europe and the new lines of communication between companies, organizations, User groups and of course, with all of you, the face of .NET in Europe.

| A TechEd for the community (and a community for TechEd) |
|
I’ts almost a month and it looks like yesterday, this past TechEd Developers is the most community intense event ever… we have had the User Group Leadership Summit Event, which was a great community event worth repeating, we also had our annual INETA Volunteers dinner which coincides with TechEd EMEA, usually the first Monday and there we invite key people that has provided so much insight and value to the community all around Europe, both from the community and from Microsoft. There we have to give a special thank you to Niklas Jardeby, José Mercado and George Kamarinos, the people that have supported and seconded this event, apart from their usual strong community support. Thank you so much!!
And this is not all… we had a very successful booth this year, manned by Miquel Lopez, our INETA VP Marketing and supported by three volunteers that helped us manage the booth; Hassan El Fadili, Emilio Velardiez and Benjami Adell. There we run a successful survey that we have kept online for all of you to help us improve J. The survey is at INETA Europe main page: http://europe.ineta.org/.
And the day before TechEd ended, we celebrated our first INETA Networking party, an event to meet with other professionals and also to meet and get to know the companies that are supporting both INETA and the community (which are more or less the same, or that is our goal).
The event was made in the “Party with Palermo” Style, Thank-you Jeffrey!!! (http://www.partywithpalermo.com/ ) that is, free to attend, with free fingerfood, free drinks and free swag. Ah and some interesting prizes, thanks to our kind sponsors and gathered more than one hundred persons, which is not bad for being the first event of this kind and done in a bit of hurry (after we gathered the necessary funds for this).

PDC, TechEd Developers... these events are being a perfect way to start the new set of presentations in all our User Groups around Europe about the new technologies that is coming related to .NET.
Spain.
In Spain, the EL Guille Community Tour 2008 (EGCT2008), an activity supported by INETA is almost at the end of the journey, this month, December, visiting Albacete (10th), Huelva (12th), Cantabria (15th), Bilbao (16th), A Coruña (17th) and Baleares (19th), talking about new features of VB9 and LINQ.
Romania.
In Romania, we have news about the Timisoara’s RONUA User Group; they have just made a great session called RONUA TechEd Review 2008 Roadshow.
Mihai Tataran begun the event with a brief presentation of the new features of C# 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010. Our national leader Aurelian Popa, MVP, had continued, with a very interesting subject, concerning the Azure, one of the first presentations on communities regarding this subject, very appreciated by the audience. During the event we have awarded another prize in the program “Do you want to become a MCP?” a study guide and a paid exam.

| Growing up INETA Europe Bureau of speakers... |

In November 2008...
The last weeks the INETA Speakers Bureau is expanded with two new speakers: Matthieu Mezil and Marcus Egger. Markus is already member of the INETA NorAm Speakers Bureau, but he lives also a couple of months per year in Europe. He and of course Matthieu are more than happy to present at your user group meeting! Unfortunately we have also removed three speakers: Goksin Bakir, Lorenzo Barbieri and Dennis Mulder. All of them joined Microsoft and, when applying one of the INETA rules, they need to left our speakers list. We want to thank them for their support the last years! Seems that our speaker scouting works great.
Matthieu MEZIL is a consultant and trainer at Winwise in Paris France. He started to use .NET in 2002, in particular C# language and he is a C# MVP.Matthieu’s main role is architect. He speaks at some conferences for Winwise or Microsoft, mainly about Entity Framework, LINQ and ADO.NET Data Services. Matthieu blogs at http://blogs.codes-sources.com/matthieu (fr) and http://msmvps.com/blogs/matthieu (en). His blog mainly devotes itself to Entity Framework. He writes articles for http://www.techheadbrothers.com/ (fr) and on a French magazine “Programmez”.
He is married and father of a daughter and a son.
 Markus Egger is the President and Chief Software Architect of EPS Software Corp. as well as the Publisher of CoDe Magazine. EPS is a custom software development and consulting firm located in Houston, Texas (USA) and Salzburg (Austria). He specializes in consulting for advanced business applications built on the Microsoft platform. EPS does most of its development using Microsoft Visual Studio (.NET) and SQL Server (among other technologies). EPS has worked on numerous software projects for Fortune 500 companies including Philip Morris, Qualcomm, Shell and Microsoft. Markus has also worked as a contractor for the Microsoft Visual Studio team.
Markus is an international speaker having presented sessions at numerous conferences including a number of conferences in North America, Europe, and South America. Markus has written numerous articles for publications including CoDe Magazine, MSDN Magazine, Visual Studio Magazine, ASP.NET Pro Magazine, FoxPro Advisor, Fuchs, FoxTalk and Microsoft Office & Database Journal. Markus is the publisher of CoDe Magazine, a .NET publication focusing in technologies such as .NET and Web Development. Markus has written a book about Advanced Object Oriented Programming. Markus also received the Microsoft MVP Award (consecutively, from 1996 to 2007, making him one of the longest-running MVPs) for his contributions to the developer community. Markus has also been named a "Tablet PC Influential Developer", ( a.k.a. "Tablet PC Guru"), an honor Microsoft awarded to the 10 most influential developers in the worldwide Tablet PC market. This year started with two new speakers added to the INETA Europe Speakers Bureau! Gill Cleeren and Kurt Claeys. Accidentally they are both from Belgium. Both speakers are well know in the .NET community. Gill is a Regional Director and MVP for ASP.NET and Kurt was the winner of the Speakers Idol contest during the TechEd Developers 2008 in Barcelona.
 Gill Cleeren
Gill Cleeren is Microsoft Regional Director and MVP Visual Web Developer/ASP.NET. He’s board member of the largest Belgian user group on Visual Studio and Microsoft-related products, Visug. Gill is also responsible, together with a team of community members, for Community Day, a yearly event on Microsoft products and technologies organized entirely by t he community. He also writes articles and creates webcasts regularly for Microsoft.
In his professional career, Gill is a .NET architect and competence center leader at Ordina. He mostly specializes in ASP.NET/WPF/Silverlight projects.  Kurt Claeys
Kurt Claeys is a .NET Architect (MCSD certified) with more than 15 years development experience and active with .NET technologies since 2002. He’s working for ORDINA Belgium as competence leader and consultant focusing on SOA projects implemented with WCF/WF and/or Biztalk and mainly sets up reference architectures and development frameworks for large enterprises. He’s also a coach and trainer (as MCT since 2005) delivering the Microsoft .NET certification tracks and Biztalk courses. He’s involved in INETA as country lead for Dutch speaking part of Belgium.
As community geek Kurt is evangelizing WCF, BizTalk 2006 and Entity Framework by delivering technical sessions for local .NET usergroups (VISUG, BIWUG, ACCB.NET) and high schools, regular speaking at IT Club events, presenting at Microsoft TechDays (Belgium) and Community Day events. Since 2008 Kurt is an MVP Connected System Developer.
He also published multiple articles in .NET magazine (Dutch) and on the Belgian MSDN site and has created screencasts on WCF for MSDN chopsticks. Kurt delivered Instructor Led Labs on Workflow Services at TechEd US Orlando, 2008) and won the Speakers the Speakers Idol Contest at TechEd EMEA (Barcelona, 2008).

Οι γιορτές τελείωσαν και εμείς ετοιμαζόμαστε για το πρώτο event του 2009: Θα πραγματοποιήσουμε το 24ο dotNETZone Community Event την Τετάρτη, 14 Ιανουαρίου στις 7.15μμ, στις εγκαταστάσεις της Microsoft Hellas (Κηφισίας 221, Μαρούσι ). Την παρουσίαση θα κάνει ο Παναγιώτης Καναβός (pkanavos), με την συμμετοχή του γράφοντα, Γιώργου Καπνιά (gcapnias) με θέμα «Application Architecture: Τι υπάρχει μετά το Object Relational Mapping;» Η χρήση ενός ORM framework δεν είναι αρκετή για την υλοποίηση μιας εφαρμογής. Στην παρουσίαση θα απαντηθούν ερωτήματα όπως: - Πως υλοποιούμε caching με ένα ORM;
- Πρέπει να κρατάω πάντα ανοιχτό ένα context ή να δημιουργώ συνέχεια ένα νέο;

Έχουμε μπει στον Δεκέμβριο και μπροστά μας είναι οι γιορτές. Πιστοί στο μηνιαίο μας ραντεβού, το 23ο dotNETZone Community Event την Πέμπτη, 11 Δεκεμβρίου στις 7.15μμ, στις εγκαταστάσεις της Microsoft Hellas (Κηφισίας 221, Μαρούσι ). That experience will make you a better programmer for the rest of your days, even if you never actually use LISP itself a lot". Νομίζω ότι το ίδιο μπορεί να ισχύσει και για την θέση της F# στο .Net ecosystem. Αγαπητά μέλη του StudentGuru, Έπειτα από μία μικρή παύση στο ρυθμό των SG events ξαναρχίζουμε δυναμικά και διοργανώνουμε το 3ο SG Event το οποίο είναι διπλό! Ναι, καλά καταλάβατε. διπλή θεματολογία περιλαμβάνοντας το Silverlight, μία τεχνολογία για ανάπτυξη διαδραστικών εφαρμογών στον ιστό και το Robotics Developer Studio 2008, ένα πολύ δυνατό εργαλείο για ανάπτυξη ρομποτικών εφαρμογών τόσο σε πραγματικό όσο και σε εικονικό περιβάλλον! Στο Silverlight αφού πούμε μερικά πράγματα για την τεχνολογία, θα μελετήσουμε πως μπορεί κανείς εύκολα να υλοποιήσει μία Silverlight εφαρμογή. Στόχος της παρουσίασης είναι να γίνει κατανοητή τόσο η τεχνολογία όσο και η τεχνοτροπία με την οποία μπορούμε να αναπτύσσουμε ολοκληρωμένες (design και code-behind) Rich Interactive Applications χρησιμοποιώντας το Silverlight. Διάφορα από τα θέματα που θα δούμε:- Design με Expression Blend
- Layouts
- Styles, Templates
- Custom Controls
- Databindings με Linq to SQL

Στο κομμάτι του Robotics, αρχικά θα κάνουμε μία μικρή εισαγωγή στο κόσμο του Robotics Studio 2008. Ο σκοπός όλης της παρουσίασης είναι να γνωρίσετε το Robotics Developer Studio 2008 μέσα από διαδραστικά παραδείγματα οπότε θα υπάρχουν πάρα πολλά demos που θα δείχνουν τη δύναμη του και το πώς μπορεί κάποιος να ξεκινήσει άμεσα να το χρησιμοποιεί. Αν και οι περισσότεροι από τους προγραμματιστές που αναπτύσσουν εφαρμογές με τις τεχνολογίες της Microsoft, έχουν ήδη στραμμένα τα μάτια τους στην PDC2008 όπου και αναμένεται η Microsoft να κάνει αναγγελίες σχετικές με την επόμενη έκδοση των Windows, την Windows Live πλατφόρμα, αλλά και τις τεχνολογίες με το κωδικό όνομα «Oslo», εμείς στην Ελλάδα θα πραγματοποιήσουμε το 21ο dotNETZone Community Event την Πέμπτη, 30 Οκτωβρίου στις 7.15μμ, στις εγκαταστάσεις της Microsoft Hellas (Κηφισίας 221, Μαρούσι ). » 2o SG Event - ASP.NET - Κατασκευάζοντας ένα δυναμικό Website

To πρώτο event τελείωσε! Σας ευχαριστούμε όλους όσους ήρθατε αλλά και όλους όσους σκεφτήκατε να έρθετε αλλά δεν τα καταφέρατε! Πιστοί στις υποσχέσεις μας και πριν προλάβουμε καλά-καλά να πάρουμε ανάσα διοργανώνουμε το 2ο SG Event το οποίο θα έχει ως θέμα την ASP.NET, μια τεχνολογία που μας επιτρέπει να δημιουργούμε δυναμικές ιστοσελίδες! Μια σύντομη γνωριμία με το περιβάλλον ανάπτυξης καθώς και απλά παραδείγματα χρήσης. Ένα από αυτά θα είναι η προσθήκη χρηστών σε ένα website. Πως υλοποιείται η λειτουργία Register/Εγγραφής με δυνατότητα αποστολής ενός Welcome E-mail. 2ο Μέρος : Επεκτείνουμε την λειτουργικότητα που δημιουργήσαμε στο 1ο Μέρος δημιουργώντας ένα υποτυπώδες Profile ενός χρήστη και δίνοντας του συγκεκριμένους ρόλους. Τέλος θα δούμε πόσο εύκολο είναι να αποθηκεύσουμε και να διαβάσουμε δεδομένα από μια βάση δημιουργώντας ένα Guestbook με τη χρήση της τεχνολογίας LINQ αλλά και μια γρήγορα ματιά στην τεχνολογία AJAX. On this, quite late, September Newsletter we are bringing lots of new projects, exciting contest and much more.  As we informed on the last month Newsletter, Surfray was preparing some webcasts about Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server and enhance and improve MOSS search capabilities with its Ontolica search Solution. Well, the training is scheduled for the end of this month.
This training will be made initially available for Spain at the end of October and shortly after to all European developers, all through Live Meeting sessions organized by INETA Europe.

| GUILLE Community Tour 2008 |

Guillermo Som is a MVP in Visual Basic, author of one of the best VB Website references in Spanish and some VB Books. Guillermo, aka. "El Guille", is member of the Speakers bureau of INETA Latam and also a Mentor in Solid Quality Learning.
This year he has organized a community tour around Spain in which he will go up to 16 different User Groups / Cities in Spain, talking about the new aspects of Visual Basic 9.0 and LINQ, with support of Microsoft MSDN, JetBrains, DNUG (Málaga .Net User Group), Solid Quality Learning and last but not least, INETA Europe. We're glad to support you, Guille and all the Spanish community.
In some sessions Guille will talk all together with David Salgado, from Microsoft MSDN, who will also chat about AJAX, Dynamic Data and Applications and new features in Visual Studio 2008 for developers.

| Social Bookmarking on MSDN and TechNet: A Collaboration Tool |
|
|
Microsoft is opening up the MSDN, TechNet, and Expression sites to the worldwide technical community. Social bookmarking is an important element of the overall vision, enabling technical professionals to easily share their web favorites, find and connect with each other, and publish community-generated content directly to our sites.
In May, we released a preview of our social bookmarking application. Today, we released v1.0 of social bookmarking for MSDN, TechNet, and Expression. Chris Slemp has a blog post going into details of the features in this release, and includes some How-To videos for getting started.
Your user group could get value from bookmarking in a couple different ways:
- Develop a list of resources for technical pros in your area. Use the “boston” tag to bookmark great tech bloggers in the Boston area, UG sites, area vendors, and/or projects.
- Build sets of resources on a topic of recent interest to the group:
- An event (e.g. “codecamp”)
- A very specific technology (e.g. “regularexpressions” or “ipv6”)
- A broader technology topic, broken down into smaller categories using tags (“sql + explore”, “sql + deploy”, “sql + manage”)

If you'd like to start a tagging project in your user group or in your company/team, and would like to share your experience, please leave a post in the Bookmarking forum. The team is collecting case studies to better understand how groups would like to use bookmarking and to inform requirements for future features such as the ability to define groups (user groups?!) on the MSDN and TechNet sites.

New INETA Programs (Communication & Sponsorship) and TechEd activities call for action |
Well, to say that some things are evolving here, as we are renewing and relaunching some of the INETA Europe lines of action. I am proud to announce that we will have ready by the TechEd Developers our new Sponsorship & Communication programs (they go along very tightly) and these will be freely available to anybody (person or company) who is interested on them, as we also will be open to any suggestion in how to improve them.
With that we do hope to be able to get more funds, enhance and empower the different companies in our market to provide benefits to our members in first place and, in second to provide us funding for bringing ahead new and exciting activities and lines of action.
As for this, we are studying of providing more activities and lines of action, we will provide more information in short about that.. and I encourage you to propose your ideas of what Activities should INETA address to. Have to say that we have some in study as INETA Live, INETA Virtual, INETA Authors program, we are studying on applying the community champs to our European community, etc...
In November, at TechEd Developers we will be launching that at our booth, and you will have the opportunity to know these programs in more detail and share your opinion and knowledge with us, which we value a lot, as if we all add-up, the final sum is enormous.
As for techEd, I have to ask you, who of you will be coming? as for taking you in account for the possible activities we are organizing, I am daring to ask you to send me an e-mail telling if you will be here... | VBUG Annual Conference 2008 |
|

VBUG is one of the largest user groups in the UK and actively participates in the Ineta Community.
Vice Chairman Tim Leung talks about the annual conference which takes place in November."
VBUG is a national user group and organises meetings and events throughout the UK. The highlight of our year is the annual conference and we've been doing this for the past 11 years.
The annual conference usually attracts around 200 attendees and is held at the Microsoft Campus in Reading. Each conference has always been successful and delivers top name local and international speakers. At a previous conference, Carl Franklin and Richard Campbell from the DotNetRocks Radio Show visited from the US and reported from our conference.
This years conference takes place on the 4th/5th November and includes 2 tracks running over 2 days.
This year, our key note speaker will be Roy Osherove, founder of the Agile Isreal community. Ken Getz will also be flying over from the US and will deliver sessions on VSTO and LINQ to XML.
Other key sessions includes:
- Tips and tricks for successful software teams.
- Data-Driven ASP.NET AJAX.
- Silverlight for mobile.

Και ενώ το φθινόπωρο έχει μπει για τα καλά, μην θέλοντας να αναβάλουμε για αργότερα την διοργάνωση της πρώτης μας συνάντησης για την φετινή σεζόν, θα πραγματοποιήσουμε το 20ο dotNETZone Community Event την Πέμπτη, 25 Σεπτεμβρίου στις 7.15μμ, στις εγκαταστάσεις της Microsoft Hellas (Κηφισίας 221, Μαρούσι ). Η συγκεκριμένη συνάντηση δεν θα έχει κάποιο προκαθορισμένο θέμα, αλλά θα προσπαθήσουμε να πραγματοποιήσουμε μια συνάντηση τύπου Open-Space.  The Dutch Code Camp 2008 is scheduled for September 6. This Code Camp is a joint effort of the three .NET user groups in the Netherlands:
The day will be filled with 15 sessions on various topics like WPF, Spec#, Rosario and software architecture. In addition, hands-on labs are available so anyone can be in the driver's seat and have a go at Domain Specific Languages, Workflow Foundation or the new features of .NET 3.5.
If you are using either C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, DotNetNuke or Delphi, you cannot miss this event.

European Silverlight Challenge - we did it, thanks to all! |
A Challenge
It would be a shame not to thank everybody who supported this initiative, that was the past European Silverlight challenge, held during the last few months of 2007 and the start of 2008. The entire marketing effort was a grass roots campaign organized by a relatively small group of INETA volunteers and the community altogether (that means us). The contest did not have a marketing budget or the structure in place that an experienced marketing organization would have. The overriding incentive for participation was the prizes, being its main prizes three tickets to the Mix'08 conference, and the possibility of talking at the MIX.
I have to say, that as INETA being a volunteer organization, the contest was only possible due to dedicated personal effort, being estimated in 100 hours per participating country and around 400 hours of central coordination. That makes a total of 2,100 hours!!! As for prizes we get $240.000 (mostly in products, market price) from different INETA sponsors who provided the different prizes. I can't just have been able to say many times thanks for these time dedicated, so I take the opportunity to do exactly that on this newsletter: thanks for your dedication, your time and also thanks to the ones that participated. you made this possible and are engaging us into doing even greater things.
Some Statistics..
As for the main site, we had over 100.000 Page Views, for the country sites, we had 467.000 page views during the contest duration.
Search engine stats returned approximately:
- One million (or 1,010,000 exactly) results for the term "Silverlight Challenge",
- 1,110 direct references linking to the websites of the contest.
- 160 Blog entries
So many thanks again to those who helped us communicate and throw the word about the contest.

» Τέσσερα χρόνια dotNETZone.gr!

Είχε γίνει λόγος για την συμπλήρωση των τεσσάρων χρόνων ύπαρξης του dotNETZone.gr στο προηγούμενο Community Event - είμαστε πλέον 4 χρονών και έχουμε κάθε λόγο για να το γιορτάσουμε! Για αρχή θα θέλαμε να ευχαριστήσουμε όλους αυτούς που με την συμμετοχή τους στην κοινότητά τα τέσσερα αυτά χρόνια, την έκαναν καλύτερη, χρησιμότερη και την βοήθησαν να γίνει το website καθημερινός προορισμός στους Έλληνες προγραμματιστές. Για τον εορτασμό έχουμε προγραμματίσει να μοιράσουμε "μερικά" δώρα στα μέλη μας: - Στο προσεχές μας Community Event την Τρίτη 24 Ιουνίου, μετά το τέλος της παρουσίασης από τον Παναγιώτη, θα υπάρξει χρόνος για να μιλήσουμε για το dotNETZone.gr - το site, τα events μας, ποια είναι αυτά που σας αρέσουν και ποια είναι αυτά που σας εκνευρίζουν. Παράλληλα, θα κάνουμε μια κλήρωση από τους παρευρισκόμενους, όπου 3 μέλη θα κερδίσουν από ένα Visual Studio 2008 Standard Ed. και μια συνδρομή TechNet Plus Direct.

» 19ο dotNETZone.gr Community Event - Sharepoint Workflow Technologies. Real Life Experiences

Εν το μέσω του Euro 2008, θα πραγματοποιηθεί το 19ο dotNETZone Community Event την Τρίτη, 24 Ιουνίου στις 7.15μμ, στις εγκαταστάσεις της Microsoft Hellas (Κηφισίας 221, Μαρούσι ). Την παρουσίαση θα κάνει ο Παναγιώτης Καναβός (pkanavos) με θέμα "Sharepoint Workflow Technologies. Real Life Experiences". Θα μιλήσουμε για τις τεχνολογίες που παρέχει το Sharepoint για τη δημιουργία workflows και την αυτοματοποίηση εργασιών, που χρησιμεύει η κάθε μία . Θα δούμε πως αντιμετωπίζονται τα θέματα που προκύπτουν από τη χρήση του workflow σε πραγματικά περιβάλλοντα. Η παρουσίαση αυτή είναι η τελευταία από πέντε, που θα παρουσιάσουν αναλυτικότερα το Visual Studio 2008. » Μεγάλος Διαγωνισμός Studentguru.gr
|
|
 Το StudentGuru.gr βρίσκεται στα μισά του δεύτερου χρόνου λειτουργίας του και όσοι είχουν παρακολουθήσει το forum και συμμετήχαν στα StudentGuru Events που πραγματοποιήθηκαν από την αρχή της "ακαδημαϊκής" χρονιάς γύρω από θέματα προγραμματισμού, τόσο για αρχάριους όσο και για προχωρημένους στον χώρο της Microsoft Hellas. Με μεγάλη επιτυχία και αρκετή προσέλευση στα event ολοκληρώσαμε τον πρώτο κύκλο, αποκομίζοντας εμπειρία και γνώση για να μπούμε δυναμικά στην καινούρια χρονιά με νέα σειρά παρουσιάσεων, ακόμα καλύτερα οργανωμένη και σχεδιασμένη (many thx στον κόσμο που ερχόταν και μας μετέφερε το πολύτιμο feedback).
To Studentguru λοιπόν κατάφερε να αποκτήσει 2 πακέτα Windows Vista Ultimate με ενσωματωμένο το SP1, προσφορά της Microsoft Hellas μόνο για τα μέλη του και αποφασίσαμε να διεξάγουμε κλήρωση* για 2 τυχερούς που θα μας πουν σε αυτό το thread τι θα ήθελαν να δουν σε επόμενα events του Studentguru.gr. » 18ο dotNETZone.gr Community Event - WPF: Developing business applications
|

Το 18ο dotNETZone Community Event θα πραγματοποιηθεί την Τρίτη, 3 Ιουνίου στις 7.15μμ, στις εγκαταστάσεις της Microsoft Hellas (Κηφισίας 221, Μαρούσι ). Την παρουσίαση θα κάνει ο Μάνος Κελαϊδίτης (kelman) με θέμα "WPF: Developing business applications". Σε αυτό το event, αν και το βασικό θέμα είναι το Windows Presentation Foundation, μην περιμένετε να δείτε περιστρεφόμενους κύβους και eye-candy effects. Θα εστιάσουμε σε όλα εκείνα τα χαρακτηριστικά που αφορούν στην ανάπτυξη business εφαρμογών. Μερικά από τα θέματα είναι τα: - Data binding

Η παρουσίαση θα είναι δύο sessions, Design και Development.. Έτσι θα διαφανεί και η άψογη συνεργασία δύο ασύμβατων μεχρί πρόσφατα χώρων, μιας και αυτό είναι το δυνατό σημείου του WPF  Στο μέρος του Design θα φτιάξουμε ένα 3D περιβάλλον με πολλές λειτουργικές και catchy δυνατότητες, ενώ στο δεύτερο μέρος, θα δώσουμε "πνοή" στο 3D user interface μας εμπλουτίζοντας το με data bindings. Windows Mobile: Session 1: Παρουσίαση των Windows Mobile. - Παρουσίαση της πλατφόρμας των windows mobile και των δυνατοτήτων της. Live Demos με χρήση των pocket pc τόσο για τον απλό χρήστη όσο και για τον επαγγελματία. Τρόποι πλήρης αξιοποίησης ενός pocket PC και των δυνατοτήτων του.
Session 2: Εισαγωγή στον προγραμματισμό για Windows Mobile. - Εδώ θα δείξουμε πως προγραμματίζουμε εύκολα και γρήγορα κάνοντας χρήση του Visual Studio 2008 και του .net Compact Framework 3.5. Θα υπάρχουν δύο live demos, το ένα επικεντρωμένο στη δημιουργία εφαρμογών κάνοντας χρήση τόσο των Windows Forms όσο και του SQL Server Compact και το δεύτερο στη δημιουργία ενός απλού παιχνιδιού.
Session 3: Modding στα Windows Mobile και τι μας επιφυλάσσει το μέλλον... - Τέλος, θα ακολοθήσει ένα μικρό session με τρόπους παραμετροποίησης του Pocket PC καθώς και ένα sneak peek στο τι μας επιφυλάσσει το μέλλον με τα επερχόμενα Windows Mobile 7 που φέρουν την κωδική ονομασία “Photon”.

- Ανάλυση Απαιτήσεων, Σχεδιασμός Βάσης και Υλοποίηση Winform Εφαρμογής
Με απλά λόγια... Θα δούμε τι θέλουμε να φτιάξουμε, θα δημιουργήσουμε την βάση μας χρησιμοποιώντας SQL Server 2005 και θα φτιάξουμε μια winform εφαρμογή που θα τη διαχειρίζεται. Και όοοολο αυτό θα γίνει με ελάχιστο και εύκολο-κατανόητο κώδικα αφού θα γράφουμε σε VB.net... - 2ο Session :
- Advanced Databinding σε Custom Objects και Αξιοποίηση του Ebay για αναζήτηση προιόντων
Έχοντας λοιπόν έτοιμη την εφαρμογής μας θα προχωρήσουμε λίγο παραπέρα και θα αξιοποιήσουμε της δυνατότητες που μας δίνει το ebay μέσα απο Web Services. Παράδειγμα αρκετά χρήσιμο καθώς μπορεί να εύκολα να προσαρμοστεί σε οποίοδήποτε website με τις αντίστοιχες υπηρεσίες... Το τέταρτο φετινό event, και 14ο dotNETZone Community Event θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 27 Μαρτίου στις 7.15μμ, στις εγκαταστάσεις της Microsoft Hellas (Κηφισίας 221, Μαρούσι ). Την παρουσίαση θα κάνει ο Άγγελος Καράντζαλης (anjelinio) με θέμα "Agile Development (Agility for survival) - Μέρος 2ο". Στο δεύτερο μέρος της agile συζήτησής μας, θα επικεντρωθούμε στον κώδικα, με πάγιο στόχο το "embrace change". Θα ξεκινήσουμε με κάποιες βασικές αρχές, και ο σκοπός είναι να επεκταθούμε σε concepts όπως το Dependency Injection, Inversion of Control, Test Driven Design, δυναμικές γλώσσες και Domain Specific Languages.
