Some time ago one of our two air-conditioning units stopped working: it would just startup when plugged-in to the mains, but not respond to any commands via the remote control. Επειδη τίποτα δεν είναι καλύτερο από το να μοιράζεις γνώση δωρεάν, και επειδή τώρα έχω χρόνο για να εμπλουτίσω τις όποιες γνώσεις έχω, αυτό τον καιρό διαβάζω μεταξύ άλλων για τον Microsoft SQL Server. Στο άρθρο αυτό θα γράψω κάποια πράγματα για το γνωστό "capacity requirement" που πρέπει να έχουμε όλοι οι dba στο μυαλό μας όταν σχεδιάζουμε ένα database server infrastructure ή απλά θέλουμε να αναβαθμίσουμε την υπάρχουσα εγκατάσταση. Πιστοποίησεις... σας έχουν βοηθήσει; Οχι στην θεωρία... στην πράξη ! Και δεν μιλάω για της Microsoft μόνο, γενικότερα Cisco, Linux, Oracle... και σας μιλάει ένας άνθρωπος που δόξα τον Θεό (αυτό θα το αναλύσουμε αλλού) έχω αρκετές και πάω και για άλλες. Αλλά αναρωτιέμαι, γιατί σχετικά με την ελληνική πραγματικότητα (επίσης θα αναλυθεί αλλού) λίγοι είναι αυτοί που δείχνουν ενδιαφέρον και το αποτιμούν κιόλας στο "ταμείο". Δεν μιλάμε για τους HR οι οποίοι οι άνθρωποι δεν έχουν ιδέα...δυστηχώς, αλλά και οι IT-wise άνθρωποι, δεν δείχνουν και μεγάλη εκτίμηση σε κάτι τέτοιο. THE PROBLEM WorldCreator creates dynamic types for used within Xaf. It is doing that by compiling code templates at WorldCreator module setup method. To find those templates it has to query a persistent datastore using XPO. Now when you create a new XPO session it will check if all object types that XPObjectType table contains if are valid. So if you have used customizedtypesinfo to create runtime associations since it is called after module setup it will throw an exception complaining for invalid tables. Saying the above you understand that there is no way to open a connection to an XPO database that has records for objects with associations that have not fully defined. Ever wondered how you can use full text search for Greek text in SQL Server? Out of the box SQL Server doesn't provide any stemmers or word breakers for Greek, which makes FTS work similar to a simple LIKE search. Fortunately, the same binary interfaces are used across all Microsoft products which means that you can use the stemmers and word breakers from other products to enable FTS in SQL Server - as long as you have the license for them! As a technical excercise, you can use the Greek stemmer and word breaker from Sharepoint Server, which are described in KB929912 . All you have to do is to add the appropriate registry entries to SQL Server. The generic process for adding new word breakers and stemmers to SQL Server is described in How To: Load Licensed Third Party Word Breakers . I am in a mood this year so I decided to spend some time with a problem that I have left in the past. The problem I really wanted to use Runtime member for existent Types and also enable validation for those members. But for the reason i have describe in this post it was not possible, unless I change DevExpress source code and recompile (bad choice). DevExpress and any vendor could, for their own reasons not support your suggestion. Maybe for good or for bad I really not care, what I care is how to use Runtime member for existent Types with validation enable. RIA Services has a strange way (personal opinion) of doing code generation for references services, instead of using the traditional Service Reference approach. Actually, regardless of Resharper and the problem I'm describing underneath, when I first saw a RIA Services application I was really wondering how this works. And it seems that Resharper is "wondering" also! That's why if you are using Resharper code inspection and/or intellisense you will notice that the classes that are supposed to be generated by RIA Services are not "visible" in your project. Actually if you do nothing, but just create a new 'Silverlight Business Application' using the Visual Studio template and open then App.xaml.cs you will see the picture bellow. (Haskell ideas => F# (OOP + FP)) Στην Haskell, επειδή έχουμε higher kind polymorphism, μπορούμε να ορίσουμε κάποιες πολύ χρήσιμες και αρκετά γενικές συναρτήσεις για Monads. Σκέφτηκα να προσπαθήσω να κάνω κάτι αντίστοιχο σε F# (υλοποιώντας ένα Generic List Monad) και να ορίσω τις κλασσικές sequence, mapM, filterM. Η αντιγραφή αρχείου σε NAS, προγραμματιστικά (ή εν γένει σε κάποιο UNC location εκτός τοπικού μηχανήματος) είναι μία ανάλογη διαδικασία, όπως αν το κάνουμε μέσω του UI. Windows Azure configuration files support an osVersion attribute where you can set which version of the Windows Azure OS should run your service. This feature doesn’t make much sense at the moment as there is only one version WA-GUEST-OS-1.0_200912-01 but in the future it’s going to be very handy. You can learn more about it here . PK....
